Witnesses Asked to Call 443-915-7727

BALTIMORE, Md. (June 20, 2022) – Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police Officers are investigating a suspected homicide that occurred early Sunday morning in Baltimore City.

At 4:32 a.m., MDTA Police Dispatch received calls for a single vehicle collision on southbound I-95 at Exit 50 (Caton Avenue). Responding MDTA Police Officers located a 2022 silver Hyundai Tucson SUV on the left shoulder. Officers discovered the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle suffering from serious injuries and rendered aid until they were relieved by members of the Baltimore City Fire Department.

The driver of the vehicle was transported by ambulance to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. During treatment, it was discovered that the driver’s injuries included a possible gunshot wound to the head. The driver was later pronounced deceased at the hospital shortly after 6:30 a.m.

The deceased is identified as 25-year-old Sai Charan Nakka of Hanover, Md. This is an open and ongoing investigation. MDTA Police detectives continue to collect and review various pieces of evidence. Any witnesses or persons who observed Nakka, the 2022 silver Hyundai Tucson SUV he was driving, or suspicious activity along southbound I-95 in Baltimore are asked to contact the MDTA Police at 443-915-7727.
