I-95 ETL Northbound Extension – Construction Projects

This project continues the Maryland Transportation Authority’s (MDTA's) efforts to provide a safe and reliable drive for its customers. In addition, improvements will increase quality of life for numerous communities with the construction of several new noise walls and the replacement or rehabilitation of seven bridges that are more than 50 years old. The northbound extension from MD 43 to MD 152 opened to traffic in December 2024, with the full extension to north of MD 24 expected to open to traffic by the end of 2027. The improvements will provide our customers with the option of using the general purpose/non-tolled lanes or using the ETLs. The ETLs will provide a relatively congestion-free commute for all users.

Point Breeze

As part of the Serious About Safety initiative, we are sharing a powerful message from Kimberly Sizemore of TSO’s Office of Procurement. Kimberly is also a Mothers Against Drunk Driving advocate who is deeply committed to making a difference after her son was severely injured by an impaired driver. Her story is a reminder of how quickly lives can change and the real impact behind the work we do at MDOT.

Bay Crossing Study

Her message also highlights an important responsibility we all share. If you see something on the road that does not look safe, such as reckless or impaired driving, say something. Reporting unsafe behavior can help prevent serious harm and protect others. Take a moment to watch Kimberly’s story and reflect on how we can all continue to put safety first.
