Reminder: Tolling Operations Not in Effect at I-695 Turnaround

MDTA will reassess status in late August

Tolling operations are not in effect for vehicles using the I-695 turnaround. Access to Broening Highway is via the turnaround from Inner Loop I-695, onto Outer Loop, to Broening Highway (Exit 44). Inner loop traffic destined for Broening Highway must use MD 151/North Point Boulevard (Exit 42) and follow detour to return to the Inner Loop.  Access to I-695 Outer Loop from Broening Highway is also available via the turnaround. No stopping at any time while using the I-695 turnaround.

Note: The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) will reassess the status of I-695 turnaround tolling operations in late August. The MDTA will issue additional public notifications as those determinations are made.

Following unanimous approval from the Board of Public Works, the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) will begin construction to expand and modernize the MARC train storage facilities at the Martin Maintenance Yard in Baltimore County. Expanding storage capacity at the rail yard is a key component to delivering more frequent service that better serve existing, changing and new travel markets as outlined in the MARC Growth and Transformation Plan.

Hello

The project scope includes increased storage capacity for MARC Trains at the Martin Maintenance Yard (located near Martin State Airport), new tracks with catenary electrification, crossover tracks, a new inspection pit, and equipment that includes water hydrants, air piping extensions and light fixtures to support train car maintenance. The $35 million investment in improvements and increased capacity for the Martin Maintenance Yard is set to begin later this fall, with completion slated for summer 2027. It is supported by a discretionary grant from the Federal Railroad Administration’s Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements Program.
