Weather permitting, northbound I-95 traffic lanes will split with three lanes to the left and one lane to the right from Exit 54 (Hanover Street) to Exit 55 (Key Highway). To use Exit 54 or Exit 55, traffic MUST be in the right lane prior to the split. Traffic entering northbound I-95 from I-395 will use Fort McHenry Tunnel Bore 4 (right tube). E-ZPass is accepted in all toll lanes. Delays anticipated on southbound I-395 leaving Baltimore City - use Key Highway to access northbound I-95 instead.

To accomplish the southbound I-95 split, the ramp from Hanover Street to southbound I-95 will be temporarily closed overnight. The detour route will direct motorists to eastbound McComas Street, to a u-turn onto westbound McComas Street, to southbound I-95.

To accomplish the northbound I-95 split, the ramp from southbound I-395 to northbound I-95 will be temporarily closed overnight. The detour route will direct motorists to southbound I-95, to Caton Avenue (Exit 50), to northbound I-95.

WHEN: The southbound I-95 shift will be in effect by Saturday, March 28, for approximately eight weeks.

The northbound I-95 shift will be in effect by Monday, March 30, for approximately eight weeks.

The Hanover Street ramp to southbound I-95 will close Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.

WHEN: The southbound I-395 ramp to northbound I-95 will close Sunday, March 29, through (cont'd) Tuesday, March 31, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.

WHY: Toll Dollars At Work: The split traffic patterns are part of the Maryland Transportation Authority's (MDTA) two-year, $64 million project to remove and replace the existing concrete deck (riding) surface and roadway joints on mainline I-95 and ramps in Baltimore City.

Major delays are expected. Motorists traveling thru Baltimore City should use I-695/Key Bridge or I-895/Harbor Tunnel. Use alternate routes entering and exiting Baltimore City. Work-zone speed limits are reduced to 50 mph on I-95.
