OLD JOPPA ROAD OVERPASS AT I-95 TO CLOSE UNTIL

SUMMER 2020 TO PREPARE FOR EXPRESS TOLL LANE EXTENSION

Closure to Begin October 7; Access to Private Residences Maintained

BALTIMORE – Beginning Monday, October 7, 2019, the Old Joppa Road overpass at Interstate 95 will be closed for reconstruction as part of the I-95 Express Toll Lanes (ETL) Northbound Extension Program between MD 43 and north of MD 24. The overpass is scheduled to reopen in August 2020. During construction, traffic on Old Joppa Road will be detoured to Mountain Road (MD 152) via Franklinville Road and Philadelphia Road. Access to private residences will be maintained throughout the duration of the project. Some overnight work along I-95 and Old Joppa Road will be necessary to maintain the schedule, ensure site access and lessen daily traffic impact.

In addition to I-95 northbound roadway improvements, the ETL Northbound Extension project will replace several bridges that are more than 50 years old, and will also provide new noise barriers. The project will be completed in segments, and is expected to be open to traffic in 2023 through MD 152, and in 2026 through MD 24.
