BRADSHAW ROAD OVERPASS AT I-95 OPENS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

Submitted by Tamory Winfield on

The Bradshaw Road overpass at I-95 has reopened to traffic. The overpass closed for reconstruction in March 2019 and has reopened ahead of its originally scheduled reopening in spring 2020. MDTA thanks local residents and motorists for their patience.

The reconstruction of the Bradshaw Road overpass is part of the expanded Express Toll Lanes (ETL) Northbound Extension Program between MD 43 and north of MD 24.  In addition to the I-95 northbound roadway improvements, the program will replace several bridges that are more than 50 years old and provide new noise walls.  The ETL Northbound Extension Program will be completed in multiple segments and is expected to be open to traffic in 2023 through MD 152 and in 2026 through north of MD 24.  For more information, visit mdta.Maryland.gov/I95ETLNB/home.html.

Reminder: The Old Joppa Road overpass at I-95 is closed for reconstruction until summer 2020. Traffic on Old Joppa Road is detoured to Mountain Road (MD 152) via Franklinville Road and Philadelphia Road.

Following unanimous approval from the Board of Public Works, the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) will begin construction to expand and modernize the MARC train storage facilities at the Martin Maintenance Yard in Baltimore County. Expanding storage capacity at the rail yard is a key component to delivering more frequent service that better serve existing, changing and new travel markets as outlined in the MARC Growth and Transformation Plan.

Hello

The project scope includes increased storage capacity for MARC Trains at the Martin Maintenance Yard (located near Martin State Airport), new tracks with catenary electrification, crossover tracks, a new inspection pit, and equipment that includes water hydrants, air piping extensions and light fixtures to support train car maintenance. The $35 million investment in improvements and increased capacity for the Martin Maintenance Yard is set to begin later this fall, with completion slated for summer 2027. It is supported by a discretionary grant from the Federal Railroad Administration’s Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements Program.
