AVOID NORTHBOUND I-395 TO GET DOWNTOWN

STARTING JULY 14 THROUGH EARLY-AUGUST

24/7 Single-Lane Access From Northbound I-95 To I-395

Plan Ahead & Seek Alternate Routes Downtown

#i95bmore

WHAT: The lanes to access Exit 53 (I-395) on northbound I-95 will be reduced 24/7 from two lanes to one. Motorists on northbound I-95 will only be able to access Exit 53 using the far right lane after Exit 52 (Russell Street). The remaining three northbound I-95 lanes will continue north to the Fort McHenry Tunnel. Exit 55 (Key Highway) will reopen to traffic.

Ext 53 I-395 - will Be Reduced 24/7 From Two Lanes to One

To get downtown from northbound I-95, use Exit 52 or Exit 55. If coming from the south, use northbound MD 295 to get downtown. Use I-695 or I-895 if traveling thru Baltimore City.

REMINDERS: The left lane on northbound I-95 between Exit 50 (Caton Avenue) and Exit 52 (Russell Street) remains continuously closed (24/7). The remaining three northbound I-95 traffic lanes will split with two lanes to the left and one lane to the right in this area. To exit at Russell Street, motorists should follow signs to use Exit 50 (Caton Avenue), continue on the ramp to northbound I-95, and exit at Russell Street.

WHEN: Weather permitting, the Key Highway exit will reopen by Saturday, July 11.

Weather permitting, the 24/7 single lane access from northbound I-95 to I-395 will be in effect by Tuesday, July 14, through early August.

WHY: Toll Dollars At Work: The new traffic pattern is part of the Maryland Transportation Authority's (MDTA) two-year, $64 million project to remove and replace the existing concrete deck (riding) surface and roadway joints on mainline I-95 and ramps in Baltimore City.

REMINDER: Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) equipment is deployed on northbound I-95 between Exit 50 (Caton Avenue) and the Fort McHenry Tunnel. The work-zone speed limit is 50 mph on northbound and southbound I-95.
