TRAVELING THIS HOLIDAY? REMINDERS FOR REPORTING EMERGENCIES ON THE ROAD
Help Police Help You
BALTIMORE, MD – During this busy holiday season, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police Communications Unit reminds motorists using the State’s toll facilities to drive safely and remain vigilant during their commutes.
Motorists requiring emergency assistance should dial 911. Non-emergency assistance is available by dialing #77. When contacting a dispatch center, motorists should be prepared to provide the following:
- The location of the emergency.
- A call-back telephone number.
- Details of the incident, crash, disabled vehicle or other circumstances.
The dispatcher will ask a series of questions to help ensure that the caller receives the proper emergency response. Motorists are reminded to please be patient and answer all questions to the best of their ability. The more information provided, the more prepared emergency personnel will be when they arrive on the scene to provide assistance.
