PURSUIT OF STOLEN VEHICLE ENDS IN FATAL CRASH

BALTIMORE, MD - On March 19, Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police attempted to stop a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado that was reported stolen on March 17, 2017, by the Laconia, N.H., Police Department.

An officer attempted to conduct the traffic stop on I-95 in Baltimore just north of the Fort McHenry Tunnel. The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued on northbound I-95 through Harford and Cecil counties. The pursuit ended when the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed at Exit 109 (MD 272). The driver of the Chevrolet, Stephen K. Reinholz, a 28-year-old male from Laconia, N.H., and passenger Kaili M. Pierce, a 28-year-old female from Concord, N.H., both were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Troopers from Maryland State Police John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway Barrack assisted MDTA officers in the pursuit. No officers or troopers were injured during the pursuit. The investigation continues and is being handled by the MDTA Police.
