MDTA POLICE RECOVER STOLEN VEHICLE,
DRUGS AND GUN DURING A TRAFFIC STOP IN HARFORD COUNTY
On Sunday, July 22, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police arrested a Delaware man who was in possession of a stolen vehicle, also from Delaware, along with drugs and a loaded handgun.
An MDTA Police officer stopped Jerome P. Johnson, a 52-year-old male from Wilmington, DE on the Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge for operating a stolen motor vehicle. Mr. Johnson was operating a 2018 Nissan Altima. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located a loaded handgun, carisoperodol, cocaine, heroin, marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms and xanax pills.
The MDTA Police charged Mr. Johnson with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, five counts of possession of controlled dangerous substance (CDS) not marijuana, possession CDS marijuana, theft under $25,000 and transporting a firearm in a motor vehicle.
After processing, officers transported Mr. Johnson to the Harford County Detention Center. The suspect is being held on $7,500 bail.
