MDTA POLICE RECOVER A LOADED HANDGUN

AND TWO POUNDS OF MARIJUANA FOLLOWING A TRAFFIC STOP ON I-95

BALTIMORE, MD - The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police arrested a Baltimore man who had a loaded handgun and approximately two pounds of marijuana in his vehicle on Friday. The street value of the marijuana is estimated at approximately $6,000.

On Jan. 27, an MDTA Police Officer stopped Kyle Jamal Wilkerson, 29, of Baltimore, on northbound I-95 in Harford County for exceeding the posted speed limit. During a subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle, a 2000 Lexus RX300, officers located the loaded handgun, two pounds of marijuana and the drug paraphernalia. Officers took Wilkerson into custody without incident.

The MDTA Police charged Wilkerson with handgun possession, being in possession of a firearm in relation to drug trafficking, engaged in drug trafficking crime and transporting a firearm, possession of CDS marijuana, possession of CDS with the intent to distribute, possession of CDS not marijuana and four counts of possession of CDS paraphernalia.

The investigation revealed Wilkerson was traveling from Baltimore to New York. After processing, Wilkerson was transported to the Harford County Detention Center for an appearance before a District of Commissioner. Wilkerson was held on $5,000.00 bail.
