Baltimore Man Arrested after MDTA Police File Charges in Road Rage Shooting

Suspect is charged with Attempted First-Degree Murder

BALTIMORE, MD (October 7, 2020) On Monday, October 5, the Baltimore Police Department Warrant Apprehension Task Force arrested a Baltimore man after a Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police investigation into an alleged road rage shooting on Interstate 95 in Baltimore City.

MDTA Police Officers responded to a report of a shooting on southbound I-95, south of the Fort McHenry Tunnel, at approximately 7:50 p.m. on September 12. The alleged victim, who was driving a grey Saturn sedan, stated that the driver of a silver Acura sedan began to tailgate her vehicle near the Fort McHenry Tunnel toll plaza. According to the victim, the driver of the silver Acura followed her through the tunnel and pulled alongside her vehicle. The victim stated that the suspect, described as a black male in his 20s or early 30s, then lowered his vehicle’s passenger side window, produced a black handgun and fired at her vehicle. Neither the victim nor her vehicle was struck.

After a thorough investigation, MDTA Police Detectives identified a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant. On Monday afternoon, officers arrested 23-year old Sterlin Harrison of Baltimore without incident. Harrison faces numerous criminal charges including Attempted First-Degree Murder, Attempted Second-Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in a Violent and Felony Crime. Harrison was transported to the Baltimore Central Booking & Intake Center. Those persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Detectives ask anyone with information on this investigation to contact the MDTA Police Criminal Investigations Unit at 410-537-6700.

The MDTA Police thank the Baltimore Police Department for their assistance with this arrest.

Tips for victims of road rage:

-Move out of the other vehicle’s way. Try to let it pass your vehicle.

-Ignore the other driver. Keep your windows up and do not engage.

-If another driver is following you, drive to a populated location or a police station.

-Do not stop your vehicle. If stopped because of traffic or a crash, lock your doors and stay in your vehicle.

-Call 911. If traveling an MDTA roadway, MDTA Police Dispatch can be contacted directly at 410-537-7911.

The Maryland Transportation Authority Police, a nationally accredited force, is the seventh-largest law enforcement agency in the State with more than 600 sworn and civilian law enforcement professionals. MDTA Police Officers provide law enforcement at the MDTA’s highways, bridges and tunnels, at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport, and at the Port of Baltimore.
