Lane Closures and Traffic Patterns
Scheduled for the Week of March 19 – 25, 2023
All work will be performed weather permitting. The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals. Headlights are required at all times on the bridge. Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes.
TOLL DOLLARS AT WORK
Driver’s Alert: Temporary traffic hold in both directions at the Bay Bridge will occur at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, during passage of marine vessels carrying three large older, blue cranes from the Port of Baltimore heading outbound via the Chesapeake Bay. Shipper rescheduled from previous date of March 16. Traffic holds will be utilized for safety purposes to ensure that drivers are not distracted crossing. (Note: Traffic will be held at Key Bridge at approximately 9:30 a.m. on March 18.)
The westbound span may be closed Sunday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following, Monday through Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Friday from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning and Saturday from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work. Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures.
One lane of the westbound span may be closed Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work.
Note: Lane closures may start earlier if traffic volumes allow. Motorists advised to call 1-877-BAYSPAN (229-7726) for 24/7 bridge conditions.
