**UPDATED SCHEDULE**

INTERCOUNTY CONNECTOR TOLLING SYSTEM

UPGRADES WILL BE COMPLETED IN EARLY APRIL

Detours for Gantry Work Continue This Weekend Between Georgia Avenue & Layhill Road

BALTIMORE, MD – The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) is implementing its next generation electronic tolling system, and is performing upgrades that include replacing existing tolling hardware and software at all toll facilities. Work along the Intercounty Connector (ICC/MD 200) in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties began in January and will be complete in April. Due to a cancellation of work last weekend, the schedule has been updated and is reflected in the tentative schedule shown below.

Temporary detours are needed due to the amount of equipment and crews involved and to help ensure the safety of workers and motorists. Those traveling between I-370 and I-95/US 1 may consider taking I-495 during periods when the detours are in effect. MDTA thanks customers for their patience and reminds them to Stay Alert So No One Gets Hurt!

Georgia Avenue (MD 97)to Layhill Road (MD 182)

Beginning 9 p.m. Friday, March 20, and continuing until 5 a.m. Monday, March 23, eastbound traffic on the ICC/MD 200 will be detoured at Georgia Avenue. The detour will direct motorists south on Georgia Avenue to Norbeck Road, then east on Norbeck Road to Layhill Road, and south on Layhill back to eastbound ICC/MD 200.

Columbia Pike (US 29) to New Hampshire Avenue (MD 650)

The next segment of the gantry upgrade project will occur March 27-30, between Columbia Pike (US 29) and New Hampshire Avenue (MD 650).

Beginning 9 p.m. Friday, March 27, until 5 a.m. Monday, March 30, traffic heading eastbound on ICC/MD 200 will be detoured at New Hampshire Avenue. The detour will direct motorists south on New Hampshire Avenue to Columbia Pike, then north on Columbia Pike back to eastbound ICC/MD 200.

Columbia Pike (US 29) to I-95

Then, beginning 9 p.m. Friday, April 3, and continuing until 5 a.m. Monday, April 6, eastbound ICC/MD 200 traffic will be detoured to complete gantry work between Columbia Pike (US 29) and Interstate 95.

The detour for this section will direct motorists south on Columbia Pike to Cherry Hill Road, then east on Cherry Hill Road to Powder Mill Road (MD 212). The detour route will then direct travelers left on Powder Mill Road to I-95, and north on I-95 back to eastbound ICC/MD 200.

I-95 to US 1

The final section of gantry work along ICC/MD 200 will be from I-95 to US 1, and is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, April 6, until 5 a.m. Thursday, April 9. Eastbound traffic will be detoured at I-95.
