MDTA POLICE TO SUPPORT

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT EVENTS ACROSS THE STATE

Partnering for Safer Communities

BALTIMORE, MD - Tonight, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police join their local communities and law-enforcement partners in six counties and in Baltimore City to help prevent crime and raise awareness of local crime-watch initiatives during the annual National Night Out program.

"The MDTA Police are connected to the communities where we live and where we work," said MDTA Police Chief Colonel Jerry Jones. "We always look forward to opportunities like National Night Out to spend time with the families that we protect and serve throughout the year."

MDTA Police Officers from detachments across the State will attend National Night Out events in Baltimore County (Turner Station), Baltimore City (Cherry Hill), Anne Arundel County (Crofton and Brooklyn Park), Prince George's County (Landover), Harford County (Havre de Grace), Charles County and Queen Anne's County.

Visit natw.org to find local National Night Out activities and to learn more about the National Association of Town Watch, Inc. In 2015, more than 38 million people and nearly 16,000 communities participated in National Night Out across the U.S.

The Maryland Transportation Authority Police, a nationally accredited force, is the seventh-largest law-enforcement agency in the state, with more than 600 sworn and civilian law-enforcement professionals. MDTA Police officers provide law enforcement at the MDTA's highways, bridges and tunnels; at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport; and at the Port of Baltimore.
