LEFT LANE ON NORTHBOUND I-95 BETWEEN CATON AVENUE & RUSSELL STREET REOPENS TOMORROW
New Traffic Pattern Begins on Southbound I-95 Between Hanover St. & I-395
#i95bmore
WHAT: The left lane on northbound I-95 between Exit 50 (Caton Avenue) and Exit 52 (Russell Street) reopens to traffic tomorrow after a 24/7 closure since mid-June. In addition, motorists exiting at Russell Street will no longer have to exit at Caton Avenue and take the service ramp.
Southbound I-95 traffic lanes will shift with all four lanes to the left of the work area between the Hanover Street on-ramp and Exit 53 (I-395). The on-ramp from Hanover Street to southbound I-95 remains closed 24/7 until late September. The detour route directs motorists from Hanover Street to East McComas Street, to a u-turn onto West McComas Street, to southbound I-95.
Southbound I-95
WHEN: Weather permitting, the northbound I-95 left lane will reopen by Wednesday, Aug. 19.
Weather permitting, the southbound I-95 shift will be in effect by Saturday, Aug. 22, for about three weeks. The Hanover Street on-ramp will reopen in late September.
WHY: Toll Dollars At Work: The lane/ramp closures and traffic shift are part of the Maryland Transportation Authority's (MDTA) two-year, $64 million project to remove and replace the existing concrete deck (riding) surface and roadway joints on mainline I-95 and ramps in Baltimore City.
REMINDERS:
• Southbound I-95 traffic lanes shift with four lanes to the left of the work area from the I-395 exit to Caton Avenue. The on-ramp from Washington Boulevard to southbound I-95 is closed 24/7. Follow detours.
• Use I-695 or I-895 if traveling thru Baltimore City.
• Work-zone speed limits on northbound and southbound I-95 are reduced to 50 mph.
